You may recall that last year in the spring Berry we described a situation that had been going on for more than two decades on 57th Avenue just east of 80th Street. Per Department of Buildings records, a contractor established a storage yard in the middle of a block of homes back in 2002 – and it was still there. Last year we wrote, “You can see that bulldozer parked back there from the westbound LIE ramp.” Well, we’re happy to report that after redistricting redrew the lines into Council District 30, the long saga finally ended. The equipment was finally removed and remains gone. Thank you to the Department of Buildings, former Council Member Holden and his office for keeping on top of this until it was resolved.
