The following businesses in our area very generously contributed to the Juniper Park Civic Association Annual Holiday Raffle held Thursday, December 9, 2004 at Our Lady of Hope Auditorium. These merchants are the JPCA cheerleaders and many of them advertise in the Juniper Berry. Many more have expressed a desire to advertise. However, space in the Juniper Berry is always a problem because of its limitations We do end up with a “waiting” list.

There were some businesses in our community who were totally uncooperative for a variety of reasons, many of them just plain stupid, for lack of a better description. For instance one business owner on Metropolitan Avenue did not want to contribute to our raffle because he received no return call when he incorrectly thought he called the the JPCA civic phone. So, obviously nobody called him back because the number he called was not the JPCA civic phone! I tell you this to give you an idea of the fancy verbal footwork we can encounter in the marketplace when we ask for a little “raffle gift.” Another merchant, across from OLH, just flat out said “NO.” When I noted that there was no one in his store and perhaps participating in the community spirit would help business, I got a dumb stare from the employees! You would think that all merchants would have the good sense to know that they get far more from the JPCA than any gift they give us.

Here are the good guys and gals in our neighborhood. Spend your hard earned dollars at these businesses and let them know you choose them for their services because they support our community.
