Responding to concerns about speeding, the NYC Department of Transportation has announced that three speed bumps will be installed on Juniper Boulevard North between 75th & 80th Streets. According to Queens DOT Commissioner Maura McCarthy, a study was completed and the agency has agreed that speed bumps are the best way to calm traffic in the area. The DOT said that the bumps will be installed “when resources become available.”
The JPCA and area residents have complained for years about drag racing, speeding and reckless driving on both Juniper Boulevard North and South. The wide boulevards are conducive for speeding which has endangered pedestrians attempting to cross in the area. There are many children and seniors crossing Juniper Boulevard North and without any traffic devices the boulevard has become increasingly more dangerous.
