A well-attended rally against airplane noise was held in September at Cunningham Park. Elected officials and civic leaders from across the borough were present. JPCA representatives were there, but only one of our local elected representatives attended: Congress Member Grace Meng (pictured). A Quiet Skies Caucus was created in Congress in October by to raise awareness on the issue of aircraft noise and work to find meaningful solutions to the problem. The caucus consists of members from across the country whose constituents are adversely affected by incidents of airplane and helicopter noise. New York members of the caucus include Reps. Grace Meng, Steve Israel, Carolyn Maloney and Joseph Crowley. In addition, the Port Authority has been scouting locations in our area to place noise monitors in order to measure the loudness of overhead aircraft.
