While they are not “really” children, and despite stories of the neighborhood “Crazy Cat Lady,” or “Local Pigeon Lunatic,” house overrun with creatures, pets can provide companionship, care, and add happiness to our lives. On a beautiful starlit night, the 1st Annual Charity Dinner Dance for Bobbi & the Strays Animal Shelter sailed New York City’s East River aboard the luxurious Marco Polo Cruise Ship “Jewel Yacht.”
Tugboats and a seaplane takeoff, add romantic view of Brooklyn Bridge, sprinkle with stars and a Statue of Liberty, red and orange, purple sunset, mix in some Salsa rhythm and Foxtrot, and you have magic on the water. Patrons danced away to an elegant evening, keeping in mind that proceeds go to help orphaned or abused dogs and cats. Beyond the spectacular Manhattan skyline, wine tasting and the grilled chicken and potatoes, most important remains “getting the word out” that there is a beautiful animal near you in need of a home. Before you empty your wallet at the local pet store, remember you don’t have to buy love at Bobbi & the Strays. “Rain or shine” loyal companions wait for adoption who will always feel happy when you are around and overjoyed to see you come home.
“Bobbi and the Strays believes that animals deserve our love, compassion and respect. Our purpose is to undertake rescue operations and to provide essential care for orphaned, stray, abused and special needs cats and dogs. Through rehabilitation, socialization and adoption, we endeavor to provide a humane service to all animals that come into our care. Additionally, we generate awareness about the prevention of animal abuse and neglect as well as spay/neuter programs and their important effect on the dog and cat overpopulation crisis.”

Special thanks to hostess Camille Bonanno who shined throughout the night. Camille works for high-end, high-quality Walter’s Custom Cabinetry who gives back to the community by donating to organizations like the animal shelter. www.walterscustomcabinetry.com
