The flags flying at local parks and triangles continue to be monitored under the watchful eye of JPCA President Tony Nunziato. Tony noticed the flag at Starr Playground in Ridgewood was in bad shape, so he again contacted his friend and fellow Queensboro UNICO member, Enrico Boletti, who is a firefighter with Squad 1. Enrico this time arranged with FDNY Communications on Metropolitan Ave and Mount Olivet Crescent in Middle Village to have the flags taken down via one of their ladder trucks on October 15. Janusz Czartoryjski and Richard Keane ran a new cable and installed clips to hold new flags, which can once again be raised and lowered. If you see flags at parks anywhere in the area that need to be replaced, please call (718) 651-5865 or write to info@junipercivic.com and indicate the location.
