Alone, I decide to purchase a robot, something, anything, to connect with, care about, and communicate with. What do I do when I am lonely? I now have a companion to keep me company. It is strong, stainless steel, shiny, and possesses a quaint smile. It is cute, in an offbeat way.
I have a positive feeling about my purchase. At first, we were very compatible. We laugh together, discuss the daily news, art, music, and everyday topics. We were getting along fine.
Months later, I notice an acute personality change in my robot, which I named Nathaniel Appleton Prentice, Nap, for short.
Nap becomes possessive, jealous, and short sighted at the sight of anyone who pays attention to me. This is very alarming to me. How did Nap become so incorrigible, nasty, and threatening? I become uneasy, and have his transmission, electronic component parts removed! The mechanism extrapolated, renders Nap immovable.
Now, Nap stands in the corner of my dining room as a reminder of an acquaintance we once had. Now, Nap is an artifact, in my museum house, and will become a phenomenal conversation piece, if only I received visitors, callers, and guests.
Sorry Nap, I had to end it.
