Chirlaine McCray, dubbed the “First Lady of NYC”, who blew ~$1B on the ThriveNYC mental health program, was named the chair of a task force aimed at advising the City on a COVID economic recovery plan. McCray’s role as chair is to make sure there is “equality” in the recovery as minority communities were most adversely impacted. Her poor track record on public policy was not a hindrance to the mayor’s decision to engage in blatant nepotism. Ms. McCray is expected to throw her hat in the ring for the Brooklyn Borough Presidency in 2021 and this is widely believed to be a way for her to raise her profile in the lead up to her run.
