The October Community Board 5 meeting was business as usual except for one interesting highlight. Board member Derek Evers, former campaign manager for Juan Ardila, asked Board Chair Vincent Arcuri why CB5 Transportation Chair Toby Sheppard Bloch had been relieved of his duties and replaced with fellow board member Eric Butkiewicz. When Arcuri responded that the Executive Committee discussed it and made the decision to switch the assignments, Evers alleged that the reason – as told to him “by someone at DOT” – was because the JPCA and Council Member Holden told them to. This has no basis in fact as JPCA does not interfere with CB5 affairs and vice versa. Evers was appointed by Queens BP Donovan Richards, so read into it what you will.
