The vinyl mural that was hung across the chain-link fence surrounding the former Mobil gas station at Fresh Pond Rd & Metropolitan area as a “revitalization” attempt became an eyesore itself. The artwork started to droop and crack in places, so a decision was made to remove it. There still is no firm date for commencement of the LIRR bridge replacement project that led to the condemnation and dereliction of the gas station many years ago.
