Council Member Robert Holden told DOT in 2022 that he would be okay with bike stations at corners that would benefit from daylighting. After all, it’s easier to see past parked bikes than it is to see around a van. So, what did DOT do? They installed bike stations so that there is still room for a vehicle to block sight lines at the corner. There is currently a pending bill in the City Council that would daylight ALL corners at every intersection (aka universal daylighting), which won’t really do anything to stop people from parking there, it will just generate ticket revenue for the City.
