Here we are, 8 decades after the founders of the Residents of Juniper Park Homes met for the first time to fight for the betterment of their neighborhood. And I must say, I think we’ve kept the area in pretty good shape! Sure, there are the everyday quality of life concerns that we need to stay on top of, and of course we’re gearing up to fight yet another planned warehouse for the homeless in the area, but the livability of Maspeth and Middle Village continues to be excellent. Grand Avenue is experiencing a renaissance, with several new businesses opening in what were empty storefronts. We have no shortage of volunteers to work on neighborhood cleanup and beautification projects. Our local schools are known for producing top level talent in both athletics and academics. Our members are engaged and will quickly mobilize and work diligently to resolve any issues before they become major problems. We have a great deal to be thankful for and to celebrate, and we plan to do just that. Join us at our 80th Anniversary Cocktail Party on Thursday, September 27th at Villa Erasmo from 6-9pm. Details are on page 41.

Yours truly,
