The co-owner of O’Neill’s Restaurant, George O’Neill, passed away July 18th after battling a long illness. He was waked at Papavero’s Funeral Home, remembered at a funeral Mass at Transfiguration Church and interred at Mount Olivet Cemetery. O’Neill had served in the army in the Korean War and upon his return home he helped his father run the restaurant, eventually taking over all of its operations. In later years he partnered with his daughters and son-in-law. He was known for his generosity toward the community and goodwill toward first responders. Posted on O’Neill’s Facebook page was the following tribute: “When you walked into O’Neill’s everyone knew him and he knew everyone right back. He was the best husband, best father, best grandfather and best friend to all…George you will be missed. You put up a good fight. We love you.” His legacy is sure to be remembered for many years to come.
