We learned again on May 15th that Mother Nature is an unstoppable force to be reckoned with. A quick moving rainstorm downed trees and power lines all across the area, but Middle Village seemed to be hit the hardest. Dozens of homes were hit with blackouts, and trees toppled, blocking streets and falling on top of cars. The ominous looking sky caused everyone to take cover, and locally at least, no one was harmed as a result. As people slowly emerged from subways and their homes, they were greeted with a colorful sky and an even more colorful rainbow. These weather events are happening more frequently and we need to pay close attention to weather reports, remain prepared and heed warnings issued by the NYC Office of Emergency Management.
