DOT is currently in the process of collecting data that will help them better synchronize the stoplights along Woodhaven and Cross Bay Blvds. Council Member Robert Holden stated, “Regarding SBS on Woodhaven and Cross Bay Boulevards, I suggested DOT look into synchronizing the traffic lights as a way to cut down on congestion. The office got back to us after an investigation showed that the lights were in fact not timed properly, and the department is reportedly working to correct the issue.” This data is expected to also lay the foundation for implementation of Transit Signal Priority. TSP is a method used to coordinate transit vehicles and traffic signals to reduce the time buses are stopped at traffic lights along a corridor and therefore improve bus travel times.
