Homes within the Juniper Valley Loop (Long Island Expressway, Metropolitan Avenue, Dry Harbor Road and 76th Street) continue to see power outages with just the slightest bit of bad weather. The power has gone out about half a dozen times this past year, with the latest being January 26 affecting more than 2000 households. Con Edison says they are working on placing the area’s electrical cables underground in a pilot program that will hopefully keep the lights on. They anticipate the project being completed this spring.
