For years, residents complained about the conditions at local hockey rinks at Juniper Valley Park in Middle Village and Mafera Park in Ridgewood. City Council Member Elizabeth Crowley & the NYC Parks Dept announced in November that the two sites will be included in a multi-site contract to upgrade hockey rinks throughout the borough. Managed by the City Department of Parks and Recreation, construction is expected to start this spring. Crowley and the Mayor's office evenly split the responsibility of funding the $1M cost of the renovations.
