That noise you hear at night is the sound of progress. Diamond grinding of the LIE roadbed is happening right now. One side is already completed and the second side is currently under reconstruction. Assembly Member Brian Barnwell received the following from State DOT: “The LIE mainline is scheduled to be completed by the end of December. The LIE Collector-Distributor Roads, which we added later to the project to enhance the noise mediation, may need to go to next spring.” There is already a noticeable reduction in the amount of traffic noise emanating from the LIE and we look forward to enhanced peace and quiet throughout the area.
