News reports in late September alleged that there were incidents of dogs suffering from antifreeze poisoning after walking in Juniper Valley Park. However, there were no police reports filed, and the one complaint that was called into the JPCA turned out to be a hoax after a police investigation. The best thing to do if you are worried about your pet’s safety in the park is to keep your dog on a leash, stick to park paths and keep him or her away from anything that looks out of place. If you see something that looks suspicious, file a 311 complaint via phone or online with the Parks Department. If you suspect your dog has been poisoned while visiting the park, please notify NYPD so an investigation can be commenced.
