On Saturday, September 22nd at 10am, the Newtown Historical Society will be leading a Maspeth walking tour, stopping at historic sites and points of interest along the way. Learn the history of the area from its Native American beginnings to its settlement by Europeans in 1642 to the present day. Optional lunch will take place at a local restaurant at the conclusion of the tour (not included in tour price). Meet by the monuments at Maspeth Memorial Park at 69th Street & Grand Ave. Purchase tickets by credit card on Eventbrite or pay in cash on day of tour. Maxine Fisher has arranged a free nature tour of Mount Olivet Cemetery on Saturday, October 6th at 9am. Expert birder Rob Jett will lead the tour. It should be a great day to see all kinds of nature in action from birds to trees to insects. RSVP not required. Meet outside the main cemetery office at 65-40 Grand Avenue.
