After receiving an inquiry from neighborhood resident Matt Lebris, JPCA collaborated with Newtown Historical Society, the Juniper Valley Park Conservancy and the NYC Parks Department to procure and install a Little Free Library at Juniper Valley Park. The unit was funded by Council Member Robert Holden and installed near the flagpole at 74th Street and Juniper Blvd South on November 1st. The concept of the library is “take a book, share a book” – a free book exchange to promote reading. The supply includes books for all ages. The Juniper Valley Park Conservancy, led by Gary Colter, will be maintaining the library. Newtown Historical Society and a number of community residents have donated a variety of books to the cause. Please avail yourself of this great community resource.
