All the community wanted was to gather the political will and funding together to replace the old, high-polluting locomotives with the cleanest new locomotives. What we got instead were:
• Two not-the-cleanest prototype locomotives working in the community that were purchased through a corrupt 2013 procurement involving LIRR and its freight rail concessionaire the New York & Atlantic Railway
• LIRR’s failure deliver on MTA’s promise to buy “the cleanest” “most technologically advanced” Tier four switcher locomotives through a real and fair 2018 do-over procurement because of their incapacity and corruption
