You know those waste haulers that park along highway service roads and stink to high heaven? Council Member Robert Holden is working on putting together a task force to address the problem made up of the NYC Departments of Sanitation and Transportation and the 104th Precinct. Borden Avenue next to Principe Park has been hit particularly hard by this stink in the summer. People should be able to enjoy their local park without breathing in garbage fumes imported from Long Island. At the request of Principe Park watchdog Lance Lovejoy, Community Board 5 is trying another measure to stop this behavior – asking NYCDOT to prohibit commercial parking along the perimeter of the park.
