The Juniper Park Civic Association is currently celebrating the 80th year since its founding in 1938. For 8 decades, our organization has been at the forefront of battles to preserve our quality of life. In 1938, the biggest issue was the first time installation of sewers. In 2018, the biggest challenge facing Maspeth and Middle Village is replacing those sewers in a minimally invasive way and holding contractors accountable. In 1938, the area was being built up from farmlands and there was an abundance of open space. Today, we are trying to keep overdevelopment in check and fiercely protecting the few parks that we have. It isn’t easy, but with a dedicated group of volunteers who are passionate about neighborhood preservation, we will be successful. Remember what Margaret Mead said, “Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.” Please write to info@junipercivic.com or call (718) 651-5865 if you can contribute your time and energy toward keeping our communities the outstanding places they are to live in and raise our families.
Yours truly,
Tony Nunziato
