Greetings to all Juniper Park Civic Association members! We hope that everyone is staying safe as we melt into spring. We would like to take this opportunity to share some information from this past year, particularly regarding Maspeth and Middle Village.

The 104th Precinct as a whole has experienced a .5 % decrease in major crimes for the 2024 year, with an increase of 17.9% in arrests made for the year, by your 104 Precinct Officers. I would like to thank my Officers for their hard work and dedication they showed throughout the year, which is reflected in the increase of arrests we have seen. To speak on the start of this current year of 2025, we have seen a decrease of 45.6% for the year. When looking at Maspeth, we currently have a decrease of 50% for the year and a 37.5 % decrease for Middle Village.

Some crimes that we continue to combat is Auto Theft and Grand Larceny. As of late, we have seen an increase of thefts involving Honda CRV, Honda Accord, and Acura TLX/MDX models. As such, it is crucial for owners of these vehicles to take preventive measures to protect their property. One of the most effective ways to deter theft is by utilizing anti-theft systems such as Car Clubs, GPS tracking devices, and Wheel Locks. These devices serve as a visible deterrent to potential thieves and make it more difficult for them to steal your vehicle. Also, we would like to make people aware of SCAMS. I am sure that you have received phone calls, text messages and emails from people pretending to be Amazon, USPS, IRS, Social Security, etc. These are SCAMS. Do not agree to send any form of money or currency to anyone you do not know. With the advancement of technology and AI, these SCAMS are becoming more and more believable. We have seen many victims who agree to send money to the parties calling, texting, or emailing. Many of these victims are elderly; please help spread the word to your neighbors and family members to help prevent them of falling victim to a SCAM.
