Brian Barnwell shocked a lot of people when he announced without warning that he would not be seeking re-election to the NYS Assembly later this year. He explained that he simply tired of politics and this year’s budget process was the last straw. He also expressed frustration at not being able to hold city agencies, such as NYCHA, accountable. Brian’s term ends on December 31st. There will be a Democratic primary in this race, the winner of which will face a Republican candidate in the general election.
