Then she gave her husband the honor of using their “lucky penny” to scratch it off. The ticket seemed to reveal that they had won a $5,000 prize. But when they went to cash it in, they got the surprise of a lifetime: The ticket was actually worth $5M! A Lotto official broke the news to Ruth by saying, “No ma'am, you forgot to scratch off the rest of the three numbers. You won $5 million.” Tritremmel said at a press conference that she almost fainted upon hearing the news. She plans to spend the money helping her family and buying a condo in Florida.
