As we previously reported, the former AMEF service station located at 74-02 Grand Avenue may soon be a huge commercial building. The architect’s plans were approved last November, although no actual work has taken place yet other than the demolition of the old building. The plans call for 7,900 sq ft of retail on the ground floor and 11,000 sq ft of medical offices on the upper floors.
Another commercial building is planned for 58-60 Brown Place, at the corner of 69th St and Caldwell Ave. This was the site of the old gas station turned furniture store featured in the Berry several times as an eyesore overgrown with weeds. The building was demolished a while ago, but the plans for the 2 retail stores and ambulatory care facility have not moved forward since they were first applied for in July 2015.
