We are back in the school year which means we are back to servicing the community. The Maspeth Making a Difference Club, with advisor Jesse Pachter, along with the Maspeth Green Club, with advisor Aaron Bell, have been meeting weekly to clean up the local areas of Grand Avenue and 57th Ave. Each week they fill
up over 3 full garbage bags worth of trash and will continue throughout the year to meet and remove litter and graffiti to try and beautify the surrounding neighborhood. Over 30 students have shown up which shows that they are eager now more than ever to spend time together outside as opposed to being stuck indoors behind a computer screen. We conducted a food drive for the month of November, as well as a toy drive for the holiday season. We hope to partner with local elected officials to assist in these efforts in the future.
