On January 23rd, City Council Speaker Melissa Mark-Viverito and Council Member Elizabeth Crowley were invited to speak on Good Day New York about the lack of women in the City Council. After discussing that for a bit, the conversation changed to the possible repeal of the Affordable Care Act.
Crowley asserted that 10 million additional people were now covered under the Act while Viverito said the number was 20 million. Both offered nothing but shrugged shoulders when host Rosanna Scotto lamented the fact that for the average New Yorker, the coverage provided was anything but affordable. Thankfully, Viverito is term limited and cannot run for re-election this year. Unfortunately, we can’t say the same for Crowley, who is gunning for a third term that she once denounced others for taking.
