My Trip to Italy
In a hospital in Syracuse Italy,
listening to music played on the cello,
Hallelujah!
The sound vibrates off the hospital ward walls,
like a rubber drum.
Solemn music dances in sync to the light of the sun.
I am alone in a foreign land
and music makes me want to scream,
but no one will hear me.
It is Easter!
I hear church bells loudly ringing all over the island.
Happy Easter!
Holy Monday morning in Italy.
Oh, how I yearned to be home!
America
My home
My home sweet home.

Perna Sphaerula III
Beneath a bay, just below a blue water line,
wind-blown sand ripples randomly
into ridges on a beach.
A fan- shaped shell is home to mussel.
Washed by sea, water seeps into a shell.
Silken skin transforms nature’s nectar.
A hot sun, changes an unwanted guest
into a spectrum of colors:
cream, rose, pink, silver, blue, gold, green, ebony.
Baroque beauties

Nippon
Godzilla
sat under a cherry blossom tree
eating snow.
A rising sun rose above Mt. Fuji,
as cranes flew overhead
like samurai’s leaping
and the sky wore a kimono of pumpkin-orange silver-blue,
Clouds, chrysanthemums, and swords.

Perception
Went skiing.
The ski lodge attendant attached
a tag to my ski jacket.
Forgot to remove the tag.
The next day, in New York City,
A lady approached me
in a reprimanding manner,
I have seen everything, she said.
Young man!
Why are you wearing
a condom on your jacket?
Madam!
This is proof of payment.

Versailles
Crystal candelabras, toy with light.
Dazzling wizardry, shining silver-mercury, liquid bright.
See only half,
your left is your right,
your right, your left.
Best face forward captures more than the will-o’-the-wisp.
Shame.
Folly.
Wonder.
A palace’s power play in a world of illusions by design.
Candles mesmerize.
Mirror’s prisms dance.
Stunning spell, signing treaties.
Mirrors, partners in crime.
Egypt, Before History
Past,
Present,
The other side
Between sun, spheres,
Always with us.
Life, a ray of light
A phoenix soaring.
A river
Forever flowing.
Pyramids dominate.

Magnificent France
My heart is filled with jubilance,
like a fast-speeding elevator racing up.
Rush.
Thrill.
Exhilarating.
Paris!
Stunning, shining star!
The Eiffel Tower, a punctuation mark to the world!
Phenomenal glitter, elegance, grace,
ringing in the New Year in firing flowing
sparklers curtain gleam.
La Marseillaise!

Wisteria Garden at Giverny
In a tranquil garden
hush sway, petite purple flowers,
hanging cradled from a vine.
A gentle breeze ruffle,
a dangled shoulder bough.
Perfume!
Random buds bloom.
Dazzled, fluorescent beams surging.
A quiet Sun
