The Maspeth steam fire engine was taken out for practice last evening. The water used was from the pond on Juniper Avenue, in the rear of the car stables (right). The engine worked admirably; with a thousand feet of hose attached, and a 1&1/8-inch nozzle used; it threw streams of water a distance of 100 feet. The company now has 42 members, and its engine, which cost $2,600 is paid for. To only members of the company is any money due. The company is excellently officered, all being men of standing. Maspeth is proud of it and has every reason to be so.
