For years, many residents have complained about the noise levels on/near the LIE. Assembly Member Brian Barnwell announced at our March meeting that after months of discussion with the State DOT, the LIE from Maurice Avenue to 108th St. will receive relief from the noise. Federal regulations prohibit barriers like walls along that stretch, but we will be receiving diamond grinding, among other improvements that will alleviate the noise. State DOT estimates the work to be completed by the end of the year. Thank you to the State DOT and Brian Barnwell for addressing this issue. Anthony Lemma, District Director of Congress Member Grace Meng's office, has also assured us that Meng's office will be working with our assembly member to ensure that the diamond grinding gets done within the timeframe laid out by DOT.
