May 11th is known as “Goodfellas Day” because it was Henry Hill's last day as a wiseguy as mentioned in the 1990 movie Goodfellas, which had several of its scenes filmed right here in Maspeth. This past May 11th, Ray Liotta, who starred in the film as Henry Hill, was back at the Clinton (now Goodfellas) Diner, this time filming scenes with Jennifer Lopez for the TV drama, Shades of Blue (photo above). During breaks in the shoot, he reminisced with the diner owners about filming there 28 years ago. You might also remember that scenes in the iconic movie were also shot at Spartan Restaurant on Grand Avenue. Second photo shows actor Joe Pesci on the phone in the office of Spartan Restaurant owner Peter Chahales. Pesci is covered with fake blood after a violent scene.
