Every 10 years, the district lines for elected offices are redrawn based on census numbers. State and federal districts were already redrawn and now the City Council districts are being scrutinized. The public may submit testimony during this process. Visit nyc.gov/districting to find out when meetings will be scheduled or how to submit written testimony. JPCA has submitted testimony asking that the small section of Middle Village currently in District 29 be reunited with the rest of Middle Village in District 30. The plan we support keeps the communities of Maspeth, Middle Village, and Glendale together, with segments of Woodside, Elmhurst and Ridgewood included that match the housing stock and character of the rest of the area.
