After reading Richard Polgar’s article “Revisiting the LIE Cap” in the June 2022 Juniper Berry, JPCA researched the information regarding the federal funding that was being tapped into for the capping of the Cross Bronx Expressway. This was sent to Council Member Robert Holden, who penned a letter to the other electeds to drum up support for capping the LIE. As of today, Sen. Schumer, Rep. Meng, Assembly Member Barnwell, and State Sen. Addabbo have all indicated support and are petitioning the NYC DOT to apply for the funding for the project.
