Our Boy Scout Troop is approaching its 75th birthday in a little more than a year. Although we are sponsored by St. Margaret's we accept boys of all faiths.  Over the years we have performed service for both St. Margaret's and the community we live in.  For instance, we scraped and painted the fencing for the parish; scraped, plastered and painted many rooms in the convent basement; scraped and painted the Parish Hall foundation; painted the St. Margaret's school cafeteria; as well as performed general clean-up at ALL church bazaars for over 30 years.  Every year our Troop spearheads a parish-wide food drive after the holidays to replenish the food pantry and recently one of our Eagle Scouts conducted a food drive for his Eagle Scout Project.

For the community we have scraped and painted ALL of the iron fencing around the western end of Juniper Valley Park and most recently, the piping fence around the playground area. In past years we have scraped and painted all of the light posts in the entire park and the park benching (most have now been replaced).  In addition, we have mowed the lawn, edged the grass and cleaned up the Pullis Family Cemetery and planted flowers, too.

Furthermore, we have performed anti-graffiti work for the shop owners on Metropolitan Avenue, painted over graffiti on all of the mail boxes (green and blue ones), painted ALL of the fire hydrants in Middle Village as well as cleaning and painting ALL 40 bus stops in Middle Village.

Our Troop goes on many trips to museums, ice-skating, skiing, walking historical trails, summer camp in Rhode Island every year for a week, weekend camping trips in the woods, and Steamtown USA in Pennsylvania just to name a few.

We have had over 20 Eagle Scouts in approximately 25 years and we are very proud of them.  Three of them have gone to our country's military academies (West Point, Kings Point and the Air Force Academy) and most of our boys go on to four-year colleges receiving many scholarships and enjoy successful careers as lawyers, school principals, and doctors, to name a few.

Our troop always welcomes new members. We meet in St. Margaret's Hall on Tuesday evenings from 7:15 pm to 9:00 pm. I hope this give you a synopsis of our Troop's history and should you have further questions, please feel free to contact me at (718) 440-7629.
