Last year, Council Member Holden laid down the law regarding film crews hogging up municipal parking along retail strips. This resulted in an agreement between the Mayor’s Office of Media and Entertainment (MOME), the agency which issues the permits, the council member, and the film industry. The deal was that whenever the filming does not take place directly on the main drag, the council member would be consulted to suggest an alternate location for vehicles and trailers. However, on March 2nd, a TV crew reserved parking for itself 24 hours before the start of the shoot along Grand Avenue, which was nowhere near where the filming was taking place. Holden contacted the MOME and the permits for Grand were rescinded and public access to the metered parking was restored.
