Two different Dollar Tree stores, one located in Middle Village at 78-02 Metropolitan Avenue, and one in Sunnyside at 39-02 Queens Boulevard, were each robbed of $1,000 within a span of 24 hours. The Middle Village incident happened on February 26th at 9:30pm and the Sunnyside incident happened the following day at 4pm. In both incidents, the robber brandished a gun, pointed it at the cashier and demanded money. On Metro, the money was stolen from the cash register and on Queens Blvd, the money was stolen from a safe. Police have not officially linked the same suspect to both crimes although they certainly appear to be related.
