In 1966 you could purchase parking near the Metropolitan Avenue subway station for $.50. You could also stop for flowers on your way home. A large home with commercial businesses on the ground level stood between the parking lot and the subway along with a row of other businesses. The familiar entrance and office building for All Faiths Cemetery can be seen on the opposite side of the photo. We don’t know what time of day or day of the week this photo was taken, but it appears to be a quiet day in Middle Village.
Today, you can still find quiet days and times in Middle Village. The left side of the photo is largely the same, except for the presence of a lot more trees which obscures the view of the office. Meanwhile, the entire right side of the photo has been replaced by the Metro Mall and some really lovely landscaping.
