The scene on July 4th was an all too familiar one. A bunch of idiotic grown adults shot off fireworks in the middle of the Long Island Expressway service road near 74th Street, blocking 2 of 3 traffic lanes. The police eventually put an end to it, but it shouldn’t have been an issue to begin with. Fireworks are illegal and at one point NYC took this seriously, intercepting cars that brought them into the city from out of state. Now we’ve gone back to the free-for-all days. We know who is responsible for this year’s mayhem (they do it annually) and the 104th Pct says that next year they will be in for a big surprise. We can’t wait!
