After the sewer work on Grand Avenue was completed, it took some time to close the trench, repave the road, restore the bus stops and mark the asphalt. After it appeared that the contractors packed it in for good, it was noticed that they forgot to repaint the crosswalk at 72nd Street. There’s a pedestrian signal there and it’s a busy intersection, so this was a big oversight. DOT was contacted, but officials there said this is the responsibility of the Department of Design and Construction because they oversaw the project. Installing this is not a major undertaking and it would be nice if public safety and not buck passing was the priority.
