Greetings to all members of the Juniper Park Civic Association. We hope everyone enjoyed their spring as we get ready to head into the summer season.
As you may already know, Deputy Inspector Hall has been transferred to the 109th Precinct to serve as Commanding Officer. He sends his sincerest thanks to the members of the Juniper Park Civic Association and the community it serves. During his time here at the 104th Precinct, Deputy Inspector Hall very much appreciated the support of this community and the relationship they have with this precinct.
As of May 1st, we have seen an increase in crime throughout the 104th Precinct, with an increase of 24% for the year to date and an increase of 32% for the 28-day period. When we speak about Middle Village, we have seen a decrease of 8% for the 28-day period. Moving over to Maspeth, for the 28-day period there has been an increase of 61%. This increase is synonymous with many precincts throughout the city.
On Wednesday, May 11, there was a shooting incident that took place in the vicinity of Maspeth High School involving students from the school. The victim was removed to the hospital where he was treated and released for his injury. The school was placed on lockdown temporarily; all students were later dismissed safely. There has been an arrest made in connection with this incident.
As the nice weather approaches and we start the summer, we urge everyone to continue to call 911 or 311 when you see something amiss.
We look forward to seeing you at the many planned events this summer, stay safe and be well.
