Cuauhtemoc Cardenas (right), a 32-year-old homeless man, was indicted on rape charges in early October for the rape of a 51-year-old woman in Forest Park in July. The accused was arraigned on the following charges: rape in the first degree, sexual assault in the first degree, assault in the second degree and criminal obstruction of breathing or blood circulation. If convicted, he may be sentenced to up to 25 years in prison.
Then in November, three sexual assaults happened in and near the park over the span of a few hours. The police released images of the suspect, and his father turned him in. 22-year-old Makijah Lino (left) was charged with forcible touching, rape and acting in a manner injurious to a child and faces 4 years in prison if convicted.
