As if businesses along Grand Avenue weren’t suffering enough, on September 6, a fire broke out at the Dollar Tree Store which spread to the adjacent convenience store, which was under renovation, and affected Dunkin’ Donuts next to that. The donut shop is back in business, but the other 2 stores remain closed for the foreseeable future. Another gut punch happened in early November when Fame Diner posted a “for rent” sign in its window indicating that it was permanently closed due to COVID, 5 years after the death of its owner.
