Residents Worried By Series Of Petty Crimes In That Section.

Residents along Metropolitan Avenue in the side streets at Middle Village are terrorized by an epidemic of burglaries and petty thieving.

Nothing seems to be too insignificant for the robbers to take, and the heaviest losers have been the poor people of the locality.

A few nights ago, France’s hotel, near the Bushwick Junction station of the Long Island Railroad, was burglarized, and a cemetery headstone has been stolen from Stockinger’s monument yards on Metropolitan Avenue between Bushwick Junction and Mount Olivet Avenue.

It is said the police of the Glendale precinct, with their small force of men, are unable to cope with the situation. The thieves are evidently taking advantage of the fact that all the available police are detailed evenings to the different political mass meetings.
