Officer Darren Mays of the 104th Pct, one of just 2 NYPD beekeepers in the city, removed 25,000 honeybees from the Staten Island Ferry Terminal in St. George on August 7th. The job took about 30 minutes, and he did get stung (but only once). The bees were relocated to the hives on the roof of the 104 Pct, which PIX11 spotlighted in a news feature July 22nd.
