Permanent flooding mitigation measures along long-neglected Edsall Avenue in Glendale were completed this past July and celebrated at an August 6th press conference. The fixes included installing a catch basin, repaving the road and creating a curb with a stone embankment next to the railroad tracks. The improvements stretch over three blocks of Edsall between 71st and 73rd Place. “I would like to thank the NYC Department of Transportation and the NYC Department of Environmental Protection for coming together to resolve this long-awaited project on Edsall Avenue, which started over six years ago,” said Assembly Member Michael Miller. “Residents of Glendale, especially those who live on Edsall Avenue, will finally have relief. This has been a team effort and I thank my partners Senator Joseph Addabbo, Jr., Former Council Member Elizabeth Crowley, CB5 Chair Vincent Arcuri, CB5 District Manager Gary Giordano, and Council Member Robert Holden for their involvement. I also would like to thank my former staffer, Dorie Figliola, for starting this project from my office over six years ago.”
