A privately owned garbage truck somehow flipped over on its side and was leaking fuel at Woodhaven Blvd and 60th Ave the morning of May 29th. FDNY Hazmat units responded and off-loaded the diesel and hydraulic fluid from the overturned truck. A private tow company uprighted the vehicle once FDNY operations were completed. Two civilians with minor injuries were transported to an area hospital. Two lanes southbound and one lane northbound on Woodhaven Boulevard were shut down during the morning rush. By 10am the scene had been completely cleared. Kudos to the FDNY and others involved in the cleanup. It takes a special kind of awful driving to cause a big, heavy truck to flip over resulting in a huge mess with the cleanup funded by taxpayers. Send ‘em a bill for it!
