The Flushing Avenue underpass stretches between 55th Street and 59th Street. Trying to access either end puts pedestrians in unsafe situations. Traffic whizzes by, and there are no marked crosswalks or curb cuts, which means it is not ADA compliant. The issue has been reported to both City and State DOT but considering the condition of the underpass – with 2 staircases in long-time disrepair and graffiti along its entire length, a fix will likely not be forthcoming anytime soon.
